Week 6

For my Persuasive essay I am writing about why being a vegetarian is not as enjoyable as being a person who includes meat into their diet. I am writing about this because I am personally against vegetables and had a very non-enjoyable lunch one day with a bowl of salad. To me, I believe that the cheese-burger is heaven.
For my speech tomorrow I am going to persuade people to accept Gay rights, if not accept then be more understanding of it.

Persuasive Speech Preview

For my persuasive Speech I, will be discussing about Lower Taxes, Lower Gas Prices, and Better School Funding can help people around the world including children. It can help poor people who can hardly pay off their apartment rents.

Persuasive Speech Topic

For my Persuasive Speech Topic i am goin gto talk about the how divorce effects children dramaticly. I know that alot of parents have gotten divorced in america and people might think that it is not that big of a deal but it is and it effects children in many ways .
For my speech, I am going to tell why you should save the planet. The environment is basically where we live and if we mess up this place that we live in, it will not only affect us, it will also affect other animals and plants. Nobody wants to have a dirty city with the air filled with smog and the streets filled with trash

Tap water is healthier than bottled water

I don't believe the myth of when people say that tap water is unhealthy. I've tried drinking it and yet it is no different than bottled water. For those who think bottled water is better, i hope that in my speech tomorrow I can change your minds.

Persuasive Speeches

Hi guys

You are picking great topics. All of them are approved unless I specifically comment and say it isn't appropriate.

Good Luck
Ms. Krissy

week 6

My topic is going to be having lockers in elementary school. I think I would like to do this topic because I strongly agree with having lockers in elementary school and therefore I could think up multiple reasons. For example, if kids had to carry heavy backpacks around the whole school campus, for almost around six years, they would be hunchbacks. That's one reason why I think schools should install lockers in elemetary schools.

Parents not hitting kids

I think that Parents should not hit their kids because kids do nothing really bad just to get hit by their parent. Parents should just yell and give the kids chances for the kid, but their is no reason to hit the kid. I believe that all people have rights like kid does, but not much as the parent, but that does not give any reason for the parent to hurt the kid. No parents should have rights to hit kids just because of these reasons i just told, so parents shouldn't hurt the kid.

sex eduation mandatory

Education about sex and birth control is mandatory in high school because of overflowing population. It shows students the consequences of having a child before marrige and at a young age. It can teach students that the consequences of having a child at a younger age can cause trouble for the parents. Since the parents are still in their teens, the child could cause a distruption in the parents' education and relationship. Teenage parents have no money and will have to ask parents for help. Sex education is about sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction and more.

In this website, it shows a list of places where they teach sex education.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_education

Week 5: Prohibit Parents From Using Punishment???

Everyone should so NOT prohibit parents from using punishments. Why should we ban parents from using punishments that include physical contact??? If parents didn't use physical contact punishment, then the kids will never be able to learn. It wouldn't really cement into the kids' minds. Instead of physical contact, the parent would use verbal which doesn't really do anything.
+ =
= Because no effect

1. Point: Kids won't argue against parents. Argument: Just verbal= kids don't care Evidence: Kids are scared that they will get hit.

2. Point: Kids get on parents nerves Argument: Parents need a way to get kids to quiet down. Evidence: Keep bothering parents with stupid requests.

3. Point: Makes kids obey their MIGHTY RULER Argument: If a reminder is there, before kid talks to parents, make sure it isn't stupid. Evidence: Sinks in that if don't obey, won't have gentle parents (sometimes)

Week 5 :)

There are many different rights for young minors under the age of eighteen. However, minors should not have the access to birth control without their parents consent. Young teenagers and children should not go behind their parents back on having birth controls for it will ruined their own lives without actually knowing, create a bad image for themselves and their parents, and being a liar to the closets people around themselves. For example, many young teenagers does not know the consequences on what will happen after they get birth control, but for the fact that “everyone” has birth controls. This is untrue because not everyone has them and for the people who do have birth controls most likely already talked with their parents or an adult for the consequences. If the young teens did not talk with their parents about this matter, then they might make very stupid mistakes which will destroy their lives forever. Also, this will create a bad image with people who found out that this young minor has birth controls where their parents does not know any of it! People will think this child is irresponsible and could not be trusted by people for they were dishonest with their own parents. This also brought the topic to the fact that it will ruin the image a person have. Since they can lie to their closet parents, so why can they not hide other important things from them? The parents might suspect them doing drugs or other bad habits because the child lost the trustful bond already. In other words, young minors (or in my opinion, all ages) should not lie to their parents or hide anything from them, especially on birth controls.

Birth Pills

I think that minors should not be allowed to get birth pills without their parent's consent because it can be very dangerous and because it brings distrust in a relationship between parents and daughter. First of all, is if teenagers would be allowed to get these pills, they would have to be very careful. Some of the pills that they could get a hold of might not even be birth pills, or may not even be effective. Parents know what is best for their kids. With their parent's consent, it would be a lot safer than without a parent's permission. next, it will cause distrust in a relationship. Teenagers would be hiding secrets from their parents and will encourage them to do more things behind their parent's back. If their parents know, they would trust their child more because she asked for permission. Lastly, minors should get permission from their parents or guardians because some teenagers have know idea what they are getting themselves into. Some schools provide sexual education, but a lot don't. It might hurt the teen both mentally and physically. They might regret it when they are older. As you can see, I think that minors should not be able to get birth pills without their parent's consent.

Week 5 hw:

I strongly believe that it is mandatory to teach about sexual education. Right now, there are children in middle school who have turned into fathers or mothers. Furthermore, some of the teenagers have acquired HIV or std's through sexual activity. These teenagers who become parents or victims to diseases passed through sexual activity would have had a better future without the temptations of going into sexual activity. So I have concluded that if these children were taught about the consequences of sexual activity they, at the very least, will have an awareness of the dangers and risks.
This kind of education might help kids understand and lead them to a successful career in later life. Also, by showing actual pictures of the kinds of diseases will help imbed the knowledge in their brains. And this is why I think that it should be mandatory to teach about sexual education at schools.

Child Abuse

Parents should not be allowed to hit their kids. It is also known as child abuse. Abuse when a child can cause stress and harm the child's internal organs and feelings. Hitting, or sexually abusing a kid is wrong...the kid has rights to neglect the parent's doings. http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/police/community/abuse.html This site tells about abuse to children.
Three arguments are:
1. Parents raised there kids to love them and care for them...the kids shouldn't be punching bags or dolls to express your feelings to. It is wrong.
2.Hitting is bad...like the school says, "keep your hands off one another."
3. Abuse on kids affect their lives at school and everywhere. Every child can be in stress...this will cause problems to schools and other kids.

It will be all the parent's fault if he or she is hurt and the cops and othe people find out.

Parent really shouldn't hit their kids.

I believe think parents really shouldn't hit their kids. I consider it child abuse even. It can teach kids bad things and it will hurt them, both mentally and physically. The websites below hold reasons why parents shouldn't hit children. http://www.naturalchild.org/jan_hunt/tenreasons.html
http://www.slate.com/id/2200450 Besides, what kids want to get hit. It hurts. So, I believe that hitting children is wrong and hurt them, on the inside and outside. I t should be illegal because well, I would consider it child abuse. And they will look like this...

the Dangers of physical abuse

Parents should be prohibited from using physical contact as their punishment to their children or child because after a beating, the child might think that the world is a bad place and that nothing is ever good. Then the child will use the type of physicallity that the parents do on them to other students. Also, the child might show contempt toward the parents. We want a peaceful world don't we? Well you can't have peace if you have physical parents.

Week 5 Prompt

I think that parents shouldn't hit their children. This can cause the child to have lower self esteem and causing the parent to overstress themselves. The child might have some serious injuries if the parent couldn't control him/her self. Also the child may run away from the house because the parents were too harsh to the child. The child may even suicide or may become violent. Older children may try drugs or alcohol.

Birth Pills

I think that minors shouldn't be aloud to use birth pills without parents permission. Because, since birth pills aren''t 100% effective then there might be unplanned pregnancy which might lead to many difficult choices for a young teenage girl to deal with, without a parent or guardian. Also, since a young teenager might not always know whats best for them they might need parent to help them make the right decision like this one. Additionally, it would be bad to hid these things from a parent. It would also be bad for there relationship and cause them to be more distant. (((http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/birthcontrolandcontraception/207844.html)))

No Physical Punishment from Parents

To me, Parents should not be able to use physical contact on their children. One reason is that kids see their parents as role models and the children might do that to their own children when they grow up. Another reason is that children represent their parents. What this means is that children are like an image of how well they parents parented them. My third and final reason is that good parents will not even dare hit their child but they would just give them a non physical punishment where on the other hand, bad parents will just hit their child.

Monday, July 19, 2010

I think that parents should be prohibitted from using punishments that involve physical contact.
Three aruguments are-
  • kids may resent their parents for that kind of treatment
  • the parents are abusing their child
  • it is wrong to hit people

Week 5 Prompt

Hi guys!

All of the topics this week have to do with young people. For your blog posting pick one, do some research, write out a paragraph introduction and then put 3 arguments using the Lising model.

-Minors should have access to birth control without their parents consent.
-Sex education should be mandatory.
-Parents should be prohibited from using punishment that includes physical contact.

Good luck!

Week 4 >8D

i think that china should allow Tibet to break away and form their own country. What would you feel like if you had your own country with your own government but without a big population and a good enough military defense system, a neighboring country decides to take over and push out your own government? and for years, the Dalai Lama, former ruler of tibet hasn't been able to return to his home country. tibet had its own culture and now its gone replaced by a alien culture. the people of tibet dont deserve this. just because a dictator wants to expand territories doesnt mean he can attack a well civilized country. i believe that this will cause public outrage anywhere.

Tibetans of China

Tibetans are Buddhist people who wants to declare independence from China. However, China would not allow this. This is because China is too stubborn to give Tibetans independence. To put this in another words, think of China as a farmer and the Tibetans as the neighbors to China. If you were China and you were asked by the Tibetans to give them a piece of your land, would you do it? Of course not! It is China's land, China had it first, and they can't just give thier land to the Tibetans willingly.

Week 4 :)

There are many different opinions on whether China should let Tibetans be themselves or include them as part of China. I believe that although Tibetans should have the freedom to be themselves, they should also be part of China. First of all, the Tibetan has been with China for more than hundreds of years. With all the history with China, and the bonds between both cultures, it would not be a very good idea to say that the Tibetans should have their own "beliefs" and "ideas" for it is also China's. Another reason is that it is always better to be united than to be separated. If Tibetan people are part of China, then they can have the protection and help from a more powerful country then their own small region of land. Besides that, Tibet is a very important part of Chinese history. Because it is a very important part of the Chinese culture, it is not fair to say that China should give away their cultures. I understand why the Tibetans wanted to set up their own country, but as for now, I believe it is better to be united and share a bond with China. These are some of the reasons why I believe Tibetans should be considered as part of China.

Tibetans in China

It's early evening in Litang, a normally bustling city of some 50,000 in the far west of China's Sichuan province. On a normal day, the streets would be crowded with cars, bicycles, throngs of shoppers, even the odd yak. But today there is an eerie silence, with only the occasional resident hurrying home, eyes to the ground. The shops are all shuttered and the only vehicles on the roads are prowling police cars whose blue and red lights flash in the gathering dusk. Litang, 90% of whose population is ethnically Tibetan, is a city under siege.

TIBETIANS in CHINA

I think that China should let Tibet be there own country instead of arguing about what happened many years ago. The Chinese should let go of what happened and be satisfied with what they have now which i think is allot. Also, it would be rude to get rid of religious freedom because i believe that everyone has the freedom to believe what they believe. Additionally, i think that the solution to this problem is for the Chinese to leave the Tibetians alone:)(http://asianhistory.about.com/od/china/a/TibetandChina_3.htm)

Week 4 Prompt

China should let the Tibetans be who they want to be instead of being greedy and getting their small piece of land back. They should share the world with them and they are already the richest country in the world. They don't need that land. They should share the land with others. Here is a link of more about the Tibetans

week 4

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1723249,00.html ...China had always wanted Tibet as part of China's land. I believe this is wrong for China to have Tibet's land since tibet is now a country itself. What if we have Mexico part of the U.S.? There will be revolts...and there will be wars and conflict...who wants that? Now because of China's history, after the earthquake, the Tibetans don't trust China anymore. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/18/world/asia/18quake.html
Tension is rising in China and Nepal.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.independent.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00021/tibet_21793a.jpg&imgrefurl=http://kobason.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!C873246EA6369396!17775.entry&usg=__kaQbew3R0vFTMQbOF5KFaqp4FU0=&h=501&w=686&sz=54&hl=en&start=19&sig2=6TuI-KWu2vBR81escTdLsA&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=ExwNGXBeqmvFMM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=139&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtibetans%2Bin%2Bchina%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=paQ_TMLXK4OisQOKy_njBg

Tibetans in China

The conflict with the Tibetans and the Chinese government has been one of the most longest conflicts in the world and is nowhere near a resolution. The reason why this issue has been going on for a long time is because the Chinese government has different beliefs from the Tibetans. Right now, China wants their land that they marked as their territory many years ago. Maybe China should just let go of it because the Tibetans live there now. However, I do think that Tibetan and China should compromise over the land and sort out their differences. All China wants is what they reightfully claimed theirs and the Tibetans should give it to them and maybe get something in it for themselves.
Click Here to find out more about the conflict between the Tibetans and China.

Israel and palestine

https:// wanttoknow.info/war/israeli_palestinians_conflict_causes is a website that will tell you about the conflict between Israel and the palestinians. The conflict between these two groups has worsened. The reason is thatthey don't have any day to day contact anymore. This speration hasworsened and both groups are becoming more dangerous. Also riligion has played an important part in this disagreement.

Week #4: Tibetans in China

Like every other country, China likes imperialism. China just wants more land or at least the Tibet land for now. And they should be able to keep it. It's been 7 centuries since Tibet was an independent government for a century. It's been a long time since then. Between 1912-1951, Tibet was independent, but...China summoned Tibetan delegation to sign a treaty. So China should rightfully control Tibet.
http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/9703/25/china.tibet/china.tibet.taiwan.lg.jpg

The main solution is that Tibet should not fight to be independent. Right now, China is the richest and most powerful country in the world. If Tibet really wanted to be more independent, they need to rise up to the world like China, but that would be impossible.

Research site

Tibet and China

www.angelfire.com/ca/pumpkingurl/ This site gives information about the conflict between Tibet and China. I believe that China needs to let go of their old beliefs. Territory you left over from the thirteenth century isn't something you can ditch and decide to come back centuries later and take over again; especially once people start living there. Maybe you can have the land back if you're that crazy about it but you can't control the people there just because you believe they're living in you're territory.

Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights hold the 10 amendments. These amendments are what allows citizens to be free to do whatever we please without any limits or restrictions. Without the Bill of Rights, citizens wouldn't be able to have a say in discussions, forced unfairly, and much more. Without freedom, the federal government would be making lives difficult for citizens. The Bill of Rights are what protects us under the US.

Week 3 :)

The Bill of Rights is very important to our country because it set the important foundation of rights we have today. For example, in the Amendment 1 talked about audience being allowed to make free speech, press, and religion. This helped our country today by allowing people speak and believe in whatever they want. This Amendment included people asking the government to correct a wrong situation. Also, in the Amendment 2, Right to Bear Arms, stated that government cannot interfere with gun owners. In the Amendment 4, Search and Seizure, declared that all people who were said to commit a crime were all innocent until proven guilty. Besides the other important Amendments that help the founding of our country, the Amendment 9, Bail and Punishment said that a person who is awaiting trial can be released form jail if he or she pays bail (a bail is money or property that the accused person agrees to give up if they fail to return from trial). It also mentioned that the punishments could not be cruel or unusual. The Amendments from the Bill of Rights is still necessary today because without these rights, our country might not have the justice we have today with these Amendments such as the ones I mentioned above and more.

Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights is important because it ensures the rights of citizens of the U.S.A. It protects our rights and protects us. Without it the government could control or use us in whatever way they chose. With it we are each individually bound by it, which humans by nature don't like, but with fairness. All people are treated equally in this manner with the Bill of Rights. The following is a link to the Bill of Rights and its history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bill_of_Rights

The Bill of Right has established itself as one of the greatest documents in U.S. history. Giving us freedom and the right to live civil lives, the Bill of Rights bring ten very important amendments. To see more information on the Bill of Rights click on this: http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/bill_of_rights.html
This document binds us from wrong and opens us to positive opportunities. The bill of rights is priceless piece of very old paper with ten laws as important than the president, Constitution, and congress combined.

The Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights is very important towards America and its people because without it, we wouldn't have any freedom. If someone were to take away the Bill of Rights, we wouldn't have the freedom of choosing our own religion, the freedom of free speech, or any of the other things listed. Even with the Bill of Rights, people today are still banned of doing things that they have the right to do, according to the Bill of Rights. We have freedom that many others, in other countries, do not have. The Bill of Rights keeps America together and it is what makes America what it is today. Many years ago, people wrote down these amendments and rights that shaped America and helped it become a free country.

Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights is important to America and its people. It helped shaped what America is today and gave us freedom. The Bill of Rights is made up of ten different types of Amendments. And one of the most important people of America wrote the Bill of Rights. Here are some links to furthermore talk about the Bill of Rights in a greater detail.

http://topics.law.cornell.edu/constitution/billofrights
http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/bill_of_rights.html
http://www.ratical.org/co-globalize/BillOfRights.html
http://www.constitution.org/billofr_.htm

Bill of Rights

I think that the Bill of Rights is one of the most important documents in the world because it states the freedoms that us, Americans have. The Bill of Rights states the 10 amendments of the Constitution.

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/bill_of_rights.html

The bill of rights is truly what lets us have the freedom that most countries do not have. I think ammendmant one is the most important. It says that the government can not pass any sort of law concerning religion, right to speech, the media doing their buisness, the right of a bunch of people getting together to discuss something, and to blame the government if their are cassulties in a violent event. This ammendment covers the right of speech which is very important because we can state our opinion if the government passes a law we strongly oppose. For example, the law Arizona passed about immigration could have been first opposed by the citizens of the state who might have told the government to take it away. Another important thing is religion because if we did not have this, the governmant would still be telling people which religion to believe.

The Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights are one of those important documents that helped shape America. It's the first 10 amendments of the American Constitution. The following website holds the text of The Bill of Rights...
Without this bill, we might not have been the country we are today. Some people don't care about it but it is one of the MOST important pieces of writing that was ever created.

Week 3: 4th of July

Without the Bill of Rights, our country would not have been established. The Bill of Rights started our whole nation, and it led to the creation of other ideas. http://www.freedomsfoundationaz.org/ffvfactiv/ffvfprog/Bill%20of%20Rights.gif Some people take it as granted but without this bill, our country would not be as free as it is today. There might not of even been a U.S.A. For example, our first amendment says the freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, and assembly. Almost anywhere we go in the U.S., there are churches. While you are driving on your way home, you see signs that has someone's name, or even a garage sale. Americans wouldn't have a right to do all those things with out the Bill of Rights. Thanks to this wonderful bill, we, the citizens of the United States, are free to do almost whatever we want to do. :D
The following link leads to the Bill of Rights, or the 1st 12 ideas.

Aci debate2 hw; week 3 :

POWER OF STATES AND PEOPLE

The tenth amendment's meaning, defined by wikipedia is : " The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. ". This amendment is very important because the constitution itself cannot determine all the laws that are needed to best benefit the people of the United States so it leaves the laws that may need to be made in the future, decided by the State or the people. For Example: when the Bill of Rights was written, cars were not yet invented, and now, with our modern transportation, new laws are made by the State to make car driving more and more safer. The ten most important amendments are like the ten commandments. We, the people of the United States live our most basic lives based upon the ten amendments, but to make our lives more full, we must consider MUCH MORE laws that help benefit the majority of the people for the greater good. TENTH AMENDMENT

ACI Debate Wk.2

Personal weapons. Owned by many American citizens for self defense. They are kept under bed, in sock drawers, and sometime under the very pillow they sleep on. But some people seem to want to ban personal weapons. They think it is dangerous and unacceptable in the U.S. Some people think they will be used for more then self defense. Some citizens think they will be used in murder plots. I personally don't think personal weapons should be banned from common citizens. Of course
they should be banned from criminals but not ordinary citizens like you and I. Besides, we Americans
have something called the second amendment. It says that we have rights to hold arms. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071209143736AA6hMVN

Guns

Guns are usually misunderstood. Whenever the word gun is brought up, many people think "danger", "death", "kill", or anything related to those words. Guns allow owners to protect themselves. Either to scare off a scoundral or to defend him/herself or others. Guns don't represent as a killing machine. It sometimes represents "power". Gun owners sometimes have to change themselves to be fitted to carry a gun. They have to be more responsible, less careless, and control impulses that makes them go on killing rampages. This changes the owner into a more responsible citizen. Guns, in some cases, resemble "protection" or "security". Keeping a gun may help a person feel safe. So instead of worrying about a murderer or theif coming into the house, they can worry about other things. Its like a nightlight. The owner of the nightlight feels safer from the dark. And the owner of the gun feels safer from the killers. This website shows both pros and cons of having guns. http://www.howtodothings.com/sports-recreation/understand-the-pros-and-cons-of-gun-controlGuns are not always a bad thing. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Week 2 :)

I believe that personal weapons should be panned. I think if personal weapons were allowed and owned by people, then there might be more temptations for people in using it. Besides that, if a parent owns a gun or some other dangerous weapon, then their children might accidently use it and hurt themselves or others. By banning personal weapons, this minimizes the injuries caused by personal weapons. Yes, it is true that personal weapons can help protect people when something dangerous happened, but there are always other ways to protect yourself such as calling the police or using self defense. Also, personal weapons should be panned because it will decrease the amount of people doing suicide using their own weapons. Although there can be other ways to do suicide; selling less weapons can stop some people from taking away their own lives. These are my reasons on why we should ban personal weapons.

Aci debate2 hw; Week 2:

I believe that the government should not ban the possesion of personal weapons. There are many cases in which personal weapons are needed. Self-defense is a major reason why people should be allowed to keep their own personal weapons. What should one do when they are being attacked by something or someone? Stand still and let the attacker do whatever they want while hoping that nothing bad will happen to themselves? Well if you have nothing to defend yourself with, then I'm sorry but that's the only option. On the otherhand, if the victim had a weapon on him/herself, it would give the attacker a great difficulty to inflict pain knowing that there is a chance the attacker could get harmed too. FYI: regular kitchen knifes could be considered to be weapons too. So if citizens were banned from possesing any personal weapons, what would happen to our kitchen cutlery and eating utensils? 2nd amendment

We Should NOT Have a Ban of Weapons

There should not be a ban of personal weapons. Why? It goes against our second amendment. The second amendment says that we have the right to bear arms! That means we, the citizens of the U.S., have the option of holding a gun in our hands or not. If there was a ban of personal weapons, the Constitution needs to have a new amendment saying that the 2nd amendment is annulled.

The people who have the weapons, now, will have to give it up and won’t be able to use it for their own purposes. Imagine, ten years from now, we have no hold of any weapons, such as a gun. Then some random stranger comes in and demands $$$. You are sitting in your living room with nothing to use. What will happen??? If there was a gun near you at that time, you’d take it out and threaten the stranger to leave.
